Shoulder Pain

“I was suffering from neck and shoulder pain when I contacted Mike. The initial appointment was thorough and professional. After some manipulation I was given a range of exercises to complete to aid recovery. Very impressed with Mike’s knowledge and professionalism. Highly recommended.” - Mr. P

Shoulder pain can be complicated due to the many different moving parts in the shoulder area. Chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists can help to identify the source of the problem and in most cases provide effective and lasting relief.

What is Shoulder Pain?

Shoulder pain is very common and the term can be used to describe a number of areas around the upper quarter of the body. There are many muscles, ligaments and even several joints (not just the “ball and socket” glenohumeral!) that make up the shoulder complex.

What causes Shoulder Pain?

Shoulder pain can have lots of different causes but the most common include:

  • Rotator cuff injuries common in athletes or older people

  • Referred pain from the neck or upper back

  • Frozen Shoulder, a condition common in older people where the joint suffers severe pain and limitations of movement

  • Arthritis

  • SLAP lesions of the shoulder cartilage, common in athletes

  • Traumatic injuries caused by falls like breaks or dislocations
