Back Pain

“I went to see Mike a couple of weeks ago with severe lower back pain and my back hasn't felt this good for years. Mike was very thorough... I was given exercises to do between appointments which really helped. The clinic is very peaceful and you leave feeling relaxed. I would recommend Mike and Pyramid Health to anyone.” - Mr. H

Back pain is the leading cause of pain and disability worldwide and consequently is the most commonly seen condition in chiropractic clinics. The vast majority of back pain can be treated and managed with the techniques and advice given by chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists.

What causes Back Pain?

Back pain can have a multitude of causes but the most common types are caused by overuse of the joints, muscles or ligaments in the lower back. On rare occasions back pain can have more serious causes but chiropractors and physiotherapists are trained to screen for these and refer to the relevant department where necessary.

What are the symptoms of Back Pain?

Back pain can be as simple as a mild ache or soreness in the lower back or in some cases the pain can refer elsewhere, usually down the leg. These types of back pain (like sciatica) are usually caused by irritated nerves and can have other symptoms like numbness, tingling or muscle weakness.
