Certain types of dizziness are very easily treated with the techniques used by chiropractors. If you have Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV or BPPV), our chiropractors can help ease your dizziness using the Epley manoeuvre.
What causes Dizziness?
There are myriad causes for dizziness which can range from dehydration, inner ear infections or low blood pressure to Multiple Sclerosis, head injuries or tumours. Any new symptoms of dizziness should be thoroughly assessed by a health professional to rule out serious causes.
Can chiropractors treat Dizziness?
Certain types of dizziness can benefit from chiropractic treatment. These are Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV) which is caused by crystal deposition in the inner ear, and Cervicogenic Dizziness which is caused by dysfunction of the joints in the neck.
BPV is treated using the Epley manoeuvre, while Cervicogenic Dizziness is treated using the more typical chiropractic manipulations as well as exercises to be performed at home.
Can Chiropractors do the Epley manouevre?
Our chiropractors are trained in assessing for BPV and proficient in carrying out the Epley manoeuvre itself. Generally all but the most severe episodes of BPV will be resolved in around 2 visits. To book your appointment with one of our professionals, use our online booking form or contact us.
